... She's going to want new fireplace tile & a mantel as well.
Just ask my mom. :)
I may or may not have had some part in nudging my parents towards redoing their fireplace, but I'm sure glad they are. The photo I showed you last week was of the hardwoods going in.
My parents have a gorgeous great room architecturally, especially for a home that's under 20 years old, and their renovations are certainly going to take the room to the next level. It started out with the 1 1/2 inch hardwood flooring.. then they gave in and off came the ugly green marble around the fireplace.. and now I've heard there's a custom mantle in the works as well. Dad calls it scope creep in his line of work (when the scope of a project begins to creep ahead, and ends up being much larger than planned). I call it fabulous. I'm so excited for them.
Right now they're just changing the major finishes in the room, but I've been putting together a design plan that we'll piece together over time. Here's a little peek at progress:
See that green carpet in the above photo? That's what was in this whole room. To say the hardwoods are an upgrade is an understatement.
The register is propped up like that only for the installation/sanding/staining of the floors, don't worry. I can't wait to show you guys the before & after photos.
Speaking of which.. my parents also recently painted and tiled their kitchen. As soon as I have a chance to do a little staging I'm going to shoot some photos and post them.
Lots of work going on here, but so worth it. I'm off to check out that pounding noise I'm currently hearing upstairs...
