Rollercoaster

You guys must have sent up some powerful prayers. Zane is still critical, but is showing steady signs of improvement.

I figure I should take a minute to let you know that this whole journey is going to be a rollercoaster. You may read a series of positive updates, only to get a large negative one the next day. That is the nature of his injury and condition. I really hate to send you all through the ringer with the ups and downs, but those down moments are when we need your prayers the most.

Zane showed steady improvement throughout the morning. He was on 100% oxygen support in the wee hours of the morning, but is now down to 60%. His heart rate and blood pressure have returned to normal. He is still on antibiotics just in case the fluid in his lungs is a sign of pneumonia. The lungs remain a bit of a mystery, but will be monitored closely until a definitive answer can be determined. The inserted a central IV line in his right shoulder, which miraculously was not burned in a small area. We're guessing it might be because of a harness he was wearing (the MPS guys might be able to confirm this). The central line will allow them better access than the groin line that he had the past day or so. He came through that procedure very well.

So, all in all, he's showing improvement but not out of the woods by any means. He will undergo a grafting surgery on Monday and another on Wednesday if all goes well. By this time they should have about 90% of the grafting done.

God is faithful. That first dip on the rollercoaster was hard. But, I imagine the first one always is. We feel a little better prepared now to handle the rest. We are claiming the promise that God will not give us more than we can bear. One of my favorite quotes reads "God brings us through deep waters not to drown us, but to cleanse us".

Courtney, Our friend and blogger, One Heart, brought Zane's plight to my attention request that I add Zane to my prayer request link on my blog. I have done so. Here is that prayer:

Holy Father, we pray that you look upon your son, Zane, who has been hospitalized due to electrocution. Guide the doctors, nurses, and all those who you have charged with his care to make the best decisions for Zane, resulting in a rapid recovery. Allow Zane's body to respond to medical treatment and to heal. Envelope him in the warmth of Your love and provide him freedom from pain. Grant him peace during his convalescence. Bless his family and friends with your strength and guidance; keep them strong in their faith, Lord.

You can see this prayer along with other on the link at http://www.bobbypinsboardwalk.com/p/prayer-requests.html

You are not alone.

Courtney, I came over to your blog because a good blogging friend, Mildred, told me about Zane's accident. My son was burned over 65 % of his body April 27 of this year. His wife, my husband and I spent 2 months in Augusta, GA to be near him while he recovered in the Joseph M. Still Burn center there. I think I will send you an e-mail, because what I want to say would be too long for a comment here. If you would like for me to share some of our experiences with you, my email address is dayep@hughes.net. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and Zane. God will take care of you as He uses the doctors, nurses, friends and even bloggers to accomplish His perfect will.
Peace and Grace,
Dorothy

Courtney,
I'm so glad you updated us again today. I've been praying like crazy and have updated my prayer chain with great emphasis today with all of the lung trouble. I just want you to remember that Zane loves you and will do whatever it takes to stay with you. I truly believe you are why he is fighting so hard. When his body gets tired he keeps going and I think it fights harder when he thinks of you. I think it made it easier for him to fight, even if his body doesn't want to, after hearing you yesterday. You are the love of his life and he won't leave you; always keep that in mind. On the other side, you have so many people praying for you... ppl who know y'all and love y'all dearly and those who only know of your story and love for God. That means that God is listening and will guide Zane through a miraculous healing. I truly believe that. It will be a long waiting game with, like you said, many ups and downs but the end result will be an amazing blessing that God has not shown you yet but He will when it's time. Hold strong and know that there is so much love in this horrible situation and that love will be a blessing.
I love y'all so much!!

Courtney,
I am blessed by your comments and updates on Zane. My family has been praying for you and yours as well as my church family who I informed of Zanes condition. You may never know all the prayers taht are being lifted up unto our God. We had some system wide trouble yesterday afternoon and last evening but Zane was as close to our thoughts and prayers as ever. Remember Courtney Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.

Hi Courtney my name is Jennie MacArthur. My husband Jason is a lineman for Eastern Me. Electric and works closely with your Uncle Steve. We both want you and Zane to know that you are in our prayers and we think of you both every minute of every day. This has been a fear of mine since Jason started working with electricity almost 6 years ago. I cant imagine what you are going through. If there is anything we can do please dont hesitate to ask. Best wishes to you both along with lots of prayers. Jason and Jennie MacArthur

Courtney, I wanted to leave you a quick note that I used one of your pictures when I posted the prayer request on my blog. I saw others doing the same and forgot to ask. Hope you don't mind but feel free to let me know if you do. Prayed again this morning and looks forward to even better news. Blessings.

Courtney--I am Alicia Hartin's friend and met you once briefly at her bridal shower. I have been following your blog and praying for your husband Zane, as well as you and your families. It is evident that you are an amazing woman and that you and Zane a like are surrounded by love. I will continue to pray for as quick as a recovery as possible for your husband. I posted both yours and Zane's name on a prayer group of my cousin's and will continue to do so. Stay strong.
