Staying Steady

Zane spiked a bit of a fever last night- it hit 103.4 at one point, but has been back down under 100 this morning. His blood pressure and heart rate are stable.. in fact, his heart rate even went down a little- which is good. He was a little more alert this morning, so they think he's getting too tolerant of the drugs. They were going to switch his medication so that he would stay more sedated.

We went in to see him a little while ago and he had to cough again. When he coughed, his eyes opened, but he's not really aware of anything. I told him to just relax and close his eyes again and he did. We got to see his leg where all the grafting was done and while it's a little bloody, it looks much better than I thought it would. He's such a fighter.

They're planning on removing the chest tube today because there hasn't been much more fluid draining from his lungs- another good sign! We are continually thankful and counting our blessings.. I believe I've lost count. :) I tell God every day how thankful I am for these days with Zane. Last Tuesday, I didn't think I'd have many more and here we are a week out already and God has continued to keep him alive. I can't believe it's been a week. Time is moving so fast- which is a blessing in itself. It won't be too long before I'll be bringing him home with me.

God is bringing him home for you. I know you may be aware of this but John and I wanted to give his mom and dad a couple of free nights at the hotel and we needed 40000 pts to do this. Last month we had 36000 pts but on Tuesday, the day of the accident, our account with Marriott was awarded 5000 points. We have no idea why we were awarded bonus points and did not know it until we went on the website looking for options and there it was. The points we needed. We were able to pass the blessing on to them and get them two free nights at the Marriott next to the hospital. God does have a plan and I have never seen him work like this in my entire life. God is amazing and is working in Zane's life without a doubt.

Courtney,
Thank you for keeping us updated here on your website on Zane's condition. We wait anxiously each day to read your good news. I am so happy that his next surgery went well and that things seem to be improving. I pray for you both each day, and there are so many others here at MPS that do as well. I know the day will come fast when you can bring him home again. Your wedding picture is so beautiful. Know that you are still constantly in our thoughts here each day.
Sincerely,

Dear Courtney,
I just want to give you a hug and tellyou to hang on and keep praying and relying on God and He will keep doing the healing work in Zane! As I told you in another comment, my son was burned badly with scalding water and stayed in the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, GA for 2 months. It was strictly a roller coaster ride, but after the 2 months time we were able to bring him home. The fever shows that his body is fighting and that's a good thing.
I hope you can feel that many people are praying for Zane and for you!!! That is one thing that kept us going. Sending prayers and hugs,
Dorothy

Still praying Courtney! So good to read about the good things! I'm amazed at the strength He is giving you and the faithful witness He is allowing you to be through this blog.

How great is love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! 1 John 3:1 :)
