Putting Together an Ikea Expedit Bookshelf

On Zane's & my recent trip to Boston we drove down to Providence one night to meet up with one of my besties (& wedding photographer- see her site here). On our way, we stopped at the Ikea in Stoughton. I've had my eye on an expedit bookshelf for a while as they're so stylish & affordable ($129 for their largest size). I thought it would be quite a project to get it together but it wasn't too bad. I love Ikea's instructions.. all I ever look at is the pictures, so they're just right!

It went together quite nicely. Putting it together on the rug was genius. That laminate can chip easily if hit on the edges. We had a great little spot in the corner for it:

It's in Zane's and my little office area & is perfect for holding books, magazines & storage boxes.

The chevron fabric is fitted over a little fold-up table temporarily until I build my own desk (which I have fabulous plans for!). The ghost chair is from Overstock; it was a Christmas present from Zane. Storage boxes from Wal-Mart & Magazine holders from Ikea.

I like the shelf unit a lot. We have just downsized into a handicapped accessible house for my husband and space is at a premium. I purchased some of the storage containers from WalMart also. The chair Zane gave you is great. I honestly did not see it until I read about it! Perfect! Wishing you both a fun weekend. Here in GA it has been in the high 70's the last two days. My cats are loving the warm, sunny windowsills.
By the way, my best friend's 15 yr old nephew has had brain surgery in NY. He was transported to a hospital in Atlanta this week and God is moving in a mighty way. He has been able to be taken off the respirator and feeding tube in a matter of days. He is due to stay for several weeks for weakness on his right side but I have a feeling, it won't take that long. Praise the Lord.

Love it. I was planning to get one, but in my store the color looks really off-white. I'm thinking it was the lighting, so what do you say. How white is it in good lighting?

Nice! You pulled together a great space. I love the ghost chair, but I'm always a sucker for classics!

It looks great! We have the one that is half that size and it has had so many functions in our house - from my craft storage to now a credenza/toy storage in our family room. Love this space!
